Is The Generic Really Just as Good?

Comments Off

My wife came back from the pharmacy a couple of days ago and said that one of my allergy medications is no longer by prescription and on top of that there was a cheaper generic form available. That sounds good on it’s face and I’m sure the pharmacist is doing her best to get us the best product.

Unfortunately, with the present state of the law, getting a generic may be a roulette wheel of what you are really going to receive. The Supreme Court has found that generics aren’t going to be held to the same standards. Which when you consider how standards and regulations have changed under just the last two Presidential Administrations, may not be saying very much.

I hope that all consumers understand the new risk this court decision has added. Also that the Congress understands that the consumer needs these protections. Until than, you might be getting even less then what you paid for.
