A man was riding his motorcycle through Rusk County when he braked to miss a deer in the road. He could not stop in time and collided with the deer. The New Richmond man was killed in the motorcycle accident. He was driving on CTH D near Highway 40.

The victim

who was not wearing a helmet, was taken from the scene via helicopter to an Eau Claire hospital. He was later transferred to a Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn., hospital, where he was pronounced dead Monday morning. This was the fourth traffic fatality in Rusk County in 2008.

The victim was thrown from the motorcycle in the accident. The police are still investigating. No on else was involved. The victim was 56-years-old. Wisconsin law states that any licensed driver over the age of 18 does not need to wear a motorcycle helmet.
