I’ve written a number of times about the dangers of children falling from windows as have others here at the Injuryboard. As part of some recent comments , I was told about an invention that might make a difference. As the inventor pointed out:
I designed a lock that will lock a sliding window or sliding door in an open position. Currently most sliding doors/windows only lock in a closed position. However, what if you wanted to open the window at night or while you are away for the day, just to get some fresh air in the house without the added worrying?
Looking at the Wind-O-Lock website, it looks like something that could really make a difference.
I hope that the major manufacturers and all big apartment owners are looking at this kind of solution. The key needs to be keeping children safe and at present that isn’t being done.
