A children’s bicycle that attaches to an adult bike has been recalled after the product was found to have a structural problem. The recalled children’s trailer bicycle were sold under three names by Pacific Bicycle Inc. The trailer bicycles were sold in bike shops around the United States under the InStep, Schwinn and Mongoose label. A welded plate may fail causing injury.

The “Pathfinder,” “Run About,” and “Alley Cat” are single-wheeled, children’s bicycles that connect to an adult’s bicycle by a coupler. The recall includes model numbers: 12-PF250, 13-SC250, 13-SC350 and M5101. The model number is located on the lower seat tube of the frame. The affected couplers have welded plates; bicycles that have couplers with cast parts are not included in this recall.

There has been one report of an injury to a child after the coupler failed. The company is offering a free repair kit and asks that the trailer bicycle not be used until it is fixed. If you own this product you may contact the company at (877) 564-2261.
