This time of year, Xcel Energy reminds everyone to check their gas meter for problems from ice and snow. The piles of snow can cause all sorts of problem. I have always been concerned about the damage that moving snow piles may cause.
This is a good time to check things like your gas meter:
A buildup of ice on the meter or in the vent can affect the gas meter regulator and create a hazard. It’s also a good time of year to check the vents for leaves or birds’ nests that might have accumulated.
