Looks like there will be a protest at 2:00 pm Saturday December 20th, 2014 at the Mall of America in Bloomington.   The question is will it be safe?    I hope so. Bringmethenews is reporting:

Around 2,000 Black Lives Matter Minneapolis protesters are expected to attend the 2 p.m. demonstration at Mall of America, which said it will be beefing up security and warned protesters that they face arrest and a year-long ban from the shopping center.

Locally,  there was the recent 35W shutdown and almost daily protests around the county.   I was particularly interested in the lawyers protest that look place in LA.

Tomorrow,  there looks to be a potential battle over where  the protest will actually take place.   The MOA has taken the position that as private property they can restrict actions inside the mall.  The protesters will  use free speech and civil disobedience to get their message across  and look to be planning to head inside.

Since the night of the Ferguson decision, I have been very concerned about the beating that the justice system would most likely go through.   This exchange will be another step along that path.   It is the type of protest that we stand for as a country.  It involves questions that have to be asked if we are going to insure a system that each of us can trust.

I hope that there is no violence or looting.  I hope that the protesters message continues to be heard.

Update:  It looks like they went inside and there were no major problems.   The pictures of the day show a number of the MOA customer  listening in to the protesters.
