Consequently, if they are making offers to get the "kids a little money," they are not really settling the case with the child. Some companies have attempted to use complicated release forms that allow the child to come back and sue the parent if they are unhappy with the deal that was made. There are significant questions on whether these would stand up, but it is clear that a judge should be involved and the money should be put away for the children until they are 18.
