It really does seem like ever major highway in and around the Twin Cities has a orange cone/barrel dress. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDot) is really keeping busy. Monday has the first morning rush hour as for the next two weeks. between I-94 and Hwy. 100 , all outbound traffic will be shifted onto the reversible High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes as crews repair concrete in the general traffic lanes .
This is combined with projects already underway on I-494 in Plymouth and Maple Grove and on Hwy. 100 through St. Louis Park. It might be just the right month to head somewhere else.
With all construction projects it is important to keep in mind these safety tips :
All fines are doubled in work zones and those are real people standing out there in the orange vests. So most of all SLOW DOWN.
- Stay alert, expect the unexpected.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts – merge when directed to do so.
- Don’t change lanes unnecessarily.
- Don’t speed in work zones; obey the posted speed limits.
- Avoid using mobile phones while driving in work zones.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Be patient!
